Read the Unbelievably Hateful Letter Sent to Family with Autistic Child: ‘Do the Right Thing and Move or Euthanize Him’

As a parent of a child who was diagnosed with ‘mild’ autism when he was a toddler I am absolutely sickened by this article and I believe that most people would find the actions of this neighbor as reprehensible as I do.

This neighbor’s mindset is reminiscent of the ideology of Hitler’s Nazi Regime and I shudder to think of what kind of people this neighbor’s own children will grow up to be.

A shocking hate-filled letter attacking a Canadian family’s autistic child has sparked outrage in an Ontario community and beyond. The letter, sent by a cowardly anonymous neighbor, accuses the “idiot” autistic child of being a “nuisance” because of the noises he makes while playing outside.

Karla Begley, the mother of the severely autistic 13-year-old, told CityNews that she was stunned that someone could write something so hateful about her son, Max.

“You selfishly put your kid outside everyday and let him be nothing but a nuisance and a problem to everyone else with that noise polluting whaling he constantly makes!!!” the hostile letter reads. “That noise he makes when he is outside is DREADFUL!!!!!!!!!! It scares the hell out of my normal children!!!!!!!”

“One pissed off mother” then goes on to advise Begley to take her son to the park “when you feel your idiot kid needs fresh air.”

Sadly, the malicious letter goes on:

He is a hindrance to everyone and will always be that way!!!!! Who the hell is going to care for him?????? No employer will hire him, no normal girl is going to marry/love him and you are not going to live forever!! Personally, they should take whatever non retarded body parts he possesses and donate it to science. What the hell else good is he to anyone!!! You had a retarded kid, deal with it…properly!!!!! What right do you have to do this to hard working people!!!!!!!! I HATE people like you who believe, just because you have a special needs kid, you are entitled to special treatment!!! GOD!!!!!!

Still, it gets worse. The anonymous sender then begs the woman to take her son and move out of the neighborhood: “VAMOSE!!! SCRAM!!!!…Go live in a trailer in the woods or something with your wild animal kid!!!”

“Do the right thing and move or euthanize him!!! Either way, we are ALL better off!!!!” the letter concludes. “Sincerely, One pissed off mother!!!!!”

The hateful letter has since gone viral and Begley’s neighborhood has reportedly rallied around her and Max. The community is currently searching for the person responsible for the letter so the mother can file criminal charges against the author. Police have been contacted and say the mother has legal grounds to file charges.

“I was shaking when I was reading it…It’s awful words. You don’t know why somebody wohttps://angelforisrael.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=5532&action=edituld ever do such a thing,” Brenda Millson, Max’s grandmother, told CityNews.

This is an open statement to the author of that letter.
The statements that you have made are insensitive, hurtful and demonstrate a juvenile mentality. People with Autism, are still people. Though not always apparent they have feelings just like you.
I understand your frustration with your neighbor’s behavior. Children with disabilities can be frustrating, and exhausting. I say this from experience; I am raising a son with autism. It is difficult but having him in my life has given me a greater sense of humanity that I otherwise would not have. You should open yourself up to acceptance of his diversity; clearly you could benefit from a greater sense of humanity yourself.
Take a moment and try to understand the frustration that this boy experiences every day. Like any child, like your children, he has needs, but he does not have the ability to express them, at least not in a way that most people can understand. The voice inside his head is screaming for someone to help him, understand him, accept him; but when he tries to speak all he can produce is the “noise” that you complain about. He hears it too; it is not the sound he wants to make. If he had the ability to articulate his needs verbally, like your “normal” children he would.
You are a coward. Everyone has the right to speak their minds. If you had taken ownership of your statements I would not hesitate to defend that right, but you have not. You have chosen to hide behind anonymity. If you lack shame for the hurtful things you have said you should at least be ashamed that you are not taking responsibility for them.
I will not hide my identity; I take full responsibility for everything that I say. My name is Wade Huntley, I live in West Jordan Utah, I operate a website: http://www.avoiceformyson.com where my contact information can be found. You are welcome to contact me yourself. Be warned that I may post any communications that I receive from you and if you reveal your identity to me I will disclose it publicly.
Finally, I am making an open offer of $100(USD) to anyone that can positively identify you as the author of this letter. It isn’t much but it is all that I can afford. Given the hurtful things that you have said I doubt it will require any reward for someone to reveal who you are. If I am able to confirm your identity I will post it publicly on my site and I will provide it to your local news stations.

Proud father of an autistic child

Thank you for posting your letter here. Maybe more people will learn something about the challenges of autism from the events that unfolded in Ontario as well as from your letter above and your website.
I hope someone who knows the author of that hateful letter comes forward with the author’s identity [and does so without accepting any reward].
I wish you all the best with your son.

I am somewhat autistic, but not completely opposed to euthanasia. Being starved to death in a world without welfare is worse.

Dust the letter for fingerprints and pull the hidden data that the printer puts on the paper and then post the forensic info online for all to see. It’s a good way to put people like that on notice.

I have mild autism, and I’ve always felt this wall between me and “normal” people. I don’t know how to describe it except everyone being in a glass jar, and I’m watching them, interacting, yet not quite. I feel, just, “different”, and have always felt that way.
Reading this letter fills me with rage. I hope they find who wrote it, because the “noises” the autistic kid makes may be ugly, but her heart is uglier.

Just because someone has autism doesn’t make him/her any less of a person than anyone else but clearly there are those that think otherwise. Ignorance breeds contempt and hate and the person who wrote the letter is clearly ignorant.
And I hope they find who wrote it, as well, because that person deserves to be exposed.

As utterly sick as this is there is no constitutional ground for criminal charges despite what local authorities said. Nevertheless it should be read by everyone because it’s the coming policy under the future machinations of Obamacare
