Hiker is terrified after he finds a bizarre ‘shrine’ to missing people in the middle of the woods along with an ‘altar’ made of twigs

ny4A hiker walking through a park in Long Island thought he discovered a shrine made by a serial killer after noticing dozens of notices of missing people around a makeshift shelter.

James Rankin posted footage of his bizarre discovery on his Facebook page.

Rankin saw the missing posters attached to trees while walking through Berkeley Jackson County Park in Huntington, New York.

He wrote on his Facebook page: ‘Just found the absolute most creepiest s***ever in the damn woods.

‘If I don’t post back with a video, send an armed search party.’

In the expletive-ridden video, Rankin approaches a clearing in the woods surrounded by trees.

In total, there were more than a dozen posters featuring both missing women and a handful of men.


Two days after posting the original video, Rankin updated his followers. He said: ‘The police have told me that the homeowner of the adjacent property is claiming this was set up for a “Halloween party,” [Halloween party? Totally tasteless, sick, AND heartless to hang up flyers of real missing people for a Halloween party.] and that it would be taken down after Halloween. They are not investigating further.

‘What I wanna know is, if these were “Halloween party” decorations, why have they been hanging there for weeks or months?
