Finally! Justice Dept. Sides With Colorado Baker Sued by Gay Couple

By Kacie Burnett | 7 Sep 2017

Gays have a burning obsession with baked goods. Their cake fetish has led to many tales of bakers targeted by LGBTers who demand a cake to celebrate their gayness (see Gaystapo Logic: You Will Bake Our Cakes… Or We’ll Call You “Gay”!). You may recall this man-loving couple who got their tighty whities in a twist over a baker who refused to make them a wedding cake. He was ordered to “bake gay wedding cakes or none at all.” Since then, it’s been a flurry of legal nonsense. Apparently the case is going to the Supreme Court now. All because of the fateful pastry that never was.

Well, one good thing did happen. Courtesy of the Justice Dept.:

In a major upcoming Supreme Court case that weights equal rights with religious liberty, the Trump administration on Thursday sided with a Colorado baker who refused to bake a wedding cake for a same-sex couple.

An Oregon state official and his agency violated the U.S. Constitution in multiple ways when they assessed a $135,000 penalty against Sweetcakes by Melissa bakery owners Aaron and Melissa Klein for refusing to violate their Christian faith by creating a wedding cake for a lesbian duo, according to a new appeal filed in the long-running case.

“In America, you’re protected by the Constitution, and you’re also innocent until proven guilty,” said Kelly Shackelford, president of First Liberty Institute, which is working on the Kleins’ case.

State Orders Christian Baker To Go Through “Training” After Refusing To Decorate Cake For Gay Wedding

We are starting to see more and more examples of religious business owners being asked and sometimes forced to violate their convictions and basically abandon free market principles to provide services for couples who live lifestyles their religion condemns.

In some situations, the bakers are wrong and in some situations they have every right to ask couples to go to a different bakery.

In the following case in Colorado, a Christian baker was willing to bake the cake but just not decorate it and in this specific state gay marriage wasn’t even legal at the time.

That wasn’t good enough for the state government and they ended up sending the bakers to a form of “sensitivity training” as punishment for their crime.

Whole Foods to sue pastor after releasing surveillance video in cake slur claim

AUSTIN, Texas – Less than one day after an Austin pastor filed a lawsuit against Whole Foods, the grocery giant is striking back.

Jordan Brown claims a bakery department associate wrote an anti-gay slur on a cake he purchased. According to the suit, he asked employees in the bakery department to write “Love Wins” on a blank, pre-frosted cake.

Brown told KXAN that the employee wrote “Love Wins F**” on the cake.

Whole Foods immediately denied the claim.

“The team member wrote ‘Love Wins’ at the top of the cake as requested by the guest and that’s exactly how the cake was packaged and sold at the store. Our team members do not accept or design bakery orders that include language or images that are offensive. Whole Foods Market has a zero tolerance policy for discrimination,” a statement from Whole Foods read.

On Tuesday, the grocery store released security footage, disputing Brown’s claims.

Government attorneys: ‘Remedy your illegal discrimination’

Following multiple similar fights in the United States over “wedding” cakes for homosexuals, including those in Iowa, Oregon and Colorado, a baker in Northern Ireland has been ordered to create a novelty cake with a picture of a couple of Sesame Street characters and the logo of QueerSpace, a homosexual “rights” group.

I Will Not Forsake God or My Beliefs to Cater to Your Immoral Lifestyle

What’s wrong with this country? A person can be refused service for not wearing shoes and a shirt but Christians can’t refuse service to lesbians? It’s really sad that Aaron and Melissa are having to shut down their shop for standing up for what they believe. Unfortunately we’re going to continue seeing incidents like this one where our religious beliefs are attacked and shredded while the ‘rights’ of homosexuals are crammed down our throats. Makes me want to puke.

‘Bible-Thumping…B**ch’: Bakers Who Refused to Make Gay Couple’s Wedding Cake Shut Down Their Shop Following Threats, Anger

Sep. 2, 2013 9:30am   |   By Billy Hallowell

In May, TheBlaze told you about Aaron and Melissa Klein, owners of Sweet Cakes by Melissa, an Oregon-based bakery that has fallen under intense scrutiny. Throughout 2013, the Christian couple and their business have been in the midst of a media firestorm after refusing to make a wedding cake for a lesbian couple.

From threats to vicious phone calls and e-mails, the Klein family has been inundated with angry responses. Now, Aaron and Melissa have announced that they are shutting down their shop.

In a brief phone interview earlier this month, Melissa told TheBlaze that the couple has continued to face upheaval following their faith-based decision. Just days after we spoke, she and her husband announced that this past weekend was the family’s last at its current location.

The business will be transitioning, with the Kleins operating, instead, from their home.
