New Report: Obamacare Premiums Will Go Up AGAIN. 15 Percent Hike…

ObamacareHikes

By Kacie Burnett | 14 Sep 2017

We all know how much Obamacare is majorly sucking right now. Heck, even Billiam and his wife know it (see Bill Clinton Doubles Down, Reminds Voters How Much ObamaCare Sucks). Especially since certain promisers failed to repeal the mess as promised. Stings a little extra. Well this new report from the Congressional Budget Office cements in that suckage.

Obamacare premiums are projected to be on the rise once again:

Hillarycare would be even worse!

WND
By Laura Hollis | 27 October 2016

obamacare-hillary-care-changing-the-subject-blaming-donald-compressed-pixlr

There is plenty of bad news about Obamacare. Premiums are set to skyrocket next year an average of 22 percent (a staggering 116 percent in Arizona). Of the 23 state co-ops that were originally set to operate, 16 have gone bankrupt, and the remaining seven are in dire financial straits. A significant number of major insurance companies, including UnitedHealthcare, Humana and Aetna, have pulled out of most (if not all) of the exchanges on the grounds that the financial losses are unsustainable. (Across the country, insurers have lost billions since 2014.) This leaves an increasing number of consumers with only one or two options to choose from. Most have lost plans and been forced – sometimes multiple times – into other plans, losing physicians in the process.

And there are plenty of writers (Kevin Williamson at National Review, Avik Roy at Forbes, Betsy McCaughey, yours truly) who are saying “we told you so.”

It isn’t gloating. We warned you. We shouted it from the rooftops. You were told that we were lying, or corporate shills, or that we wanted old people and sick people to die. To the contrary, we saw what was coming and wanted to avoid it.

Yes, there were – and are – legitimate concerns about people without insurance. But the rallying cry of Obamacare – “We have to do something!” – is precisely the wrong impulse. It is that self-imposed desperation that makes you targets for exploitation by every self-important ideologue, every liar, every charlatan.

That is why President Obama was able to lie to you over and over again about keeping your doctor and your plan, and get away with it.

It’s why Obamacare architect Jonathan Gruber could brag about “the stupidity of the American voter,” and adviser Ezekiel Emanuel could argue in favor of bureaucratic rationing of health care, and get away with it.

It’s why Congress could pass a 2,000-page bill that not one of the members had read in its entirely, and why then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi could infamously say, “We have to pass the bill so you can find out what’s in it,” and get away with it.

Health Law Tax Penalty? I’ll Take It, Millions Say

NY Times
By ROBERT PEAR | Oct 26, 2016

The architects of the Affordable Care Act thought they had a blunt instrument to force people — even young and healthy ones — to buy insurance through the law’s online marketplaces: a tax penalty for those who remain uninsured.

It has not worked all that well, and that is at least partly to blame for soaring premiums next year on some of the health law’s insurance exchanges.

The full weight of the penalty will not be felt until April, when those who have avoided buying insurance will face penalties of around $700 a person or more. But even then that might not be enough: For the young and healthy who are badly needed to make the exchanges work, it is sometimes cheaper to pay the Internal Revenue Service than an insurance company charging large premiums, with huge deductibles.

“In my experience, the penalty has not been large enough to motivate people to sign up for insurance,” said Christine Speidel, a tax lawyer at Vermont Legal Aid.

Some people do sign up, especially those with low incomes who receive the most generous subsidies, Ms. Speidel said. But others, she said, find that they cannot afford insurance, even with subsidies, so “they grudgingly take the penalty.”

The I.R.S. says that 8.1 million returns included penalty payments for people who went without insurance in 2014, the first year in which most people were required to have coverage. A preliminary report on the latest tax-filing season, tabulating data through April, said that 5.6 million returns included penalties averaging $442 a return for people uninsured in 2015.

Insurance company won’t pay for woman’s chemo treatments

But physician-assisted suicide pills are approved

packer-family

“Compassion and Choice DENIED,” a recently released documentary, demonstrates how California’s new law allowing terminally ill patients access to end-of-life drugs could be opening the door for insurance companies to deny treatment to patients with serious illnesses.

The 15-minute documentary produced by the Center for Bioethics and Culture tells the story of Stephanie Packer, a terminally ill mom who wants to stay alive as long as possible to be an example for her four young children.

According to Packer, her insurance company appears to prefer she give up the fight and chose assisted suicide instead.

Packer suffers from a form of Scleroderma complicated with pulmonary fibrosis. Normally, Scleroderma would not be a terminal condition. Unfortunately, Packer’s diffuse form of the disease has invaded her lungs, causing the pulmonary fibrosis.

Last summer, shortly after California’s assisted suicide law went into effect, Packer was told by her insurance company the chemotherapy drug prescribed by her doctor would not be covered.

Worrying spread of mysterious polio-like illness has left more than 100 children paralyzed across America with little hope of recovery – as doctors warn of a new surge in cases

A polio-like illness that once paralyzed at least 120 children around the country in one year is on the rise again.

Acute flaccid myelitis (AFM) affects the nervous system, specifically the spinal cord. Symptoms similar to that of a cold can escalate dramatically and leave most of a child’s body paralyzed in a matter of days.

Fifty people across 24 states have contracted AFM from January to August this year, the CDC reported Monday.

This increase follows a similar pattern to an AFM surge that affected at least 120 children in 2014.

Many still have not recovered fully today.

Researchers do not know what causes AFM, or what triggers weakness in the arms and legs during the disease.

AFM has several causes, which include infections by enteroviruses (polio and non-polio), the West Nile virus and viruses of the same family, and adenoviruses.

Crippling bacterial infection sweeps Flint, Michigan because residents are too scared to bathe in lead-infected water and use baby wipes instead

Flint, Michigan, has confirmed an outbreak of a highly infectious bacterial disease – caused by residents being too scared to bathe in lead-contaminated water.

So far 53 residents in Flint have contracted shigellosis – a virus that causes bloody diarrhea, fever, and nausea. It is usually the result of poor hygiene. A total of 84 cases have been recorded in Genesee County.

It is the latest health crisis to hit the city two years after lead contaminated the water system, leaving scores of residents with potentially life-long side effects.

City health officials claim it is the direct result of residents being too scared to wash themselves with possibly contaminated water. Officials say that instead, they are washing themselves with free baby wipes handed out at rescue centers set up to provide bottled water following the 2014 lead contamination of the town’s water supply.

Seems that Washington DC isn’t the only place that’s learned the art of the Friday afternoon news dump. Minnesota Commerce Commissioner Mike Rothman announced yesterday afternoon that the state had approved health insurance premium increases that will average 60% in MNsure, the state’s ObamaCare exchange. The statement blamed big losses by insurers in the state, and bad predictions about utilization rates, for the decision.

Why the GMO ‘Labeling’ Bill That Obama Just Signed Into Law Is a Sham—and a National Embarrassment
By A Andrew Kimbrel 08/05/2016 06:13 pm ET | Updated Aug 05, 2016

It is known as the DARK Act. D-A-R-K standing for Denying Americans the Right to Know. It was signed by President Obama last Friday in the afterglow of the Democratic National Convention, without fanfare or major media coverage. The bill’s moniker is apt. With a few strokes of his pen Obama scratched out the laws of Vermont, Connecticut and Maine that required the labeling of genetically engineered (GE) foods.
He also nullified the GE seed labeling laws in Vermont and Virginia which allowed farmers to choose what seeds they wanted to buy and plant. And for good measure he preempted Alaska’s law requiring the labeling of any GE fish or fish product, a law passed to protect the state’s vital fisheries from contamination by recently approved genetically engineered salmon.
The White House justified the Dark Act’s massive onslaught on local democracy on the grounds that the bill would create national standards for labeling of GE foods. It does nothing of the sort. In fact, according to Obama’s own Food and Drug Administration (FDA), if enacted, the bill would exempt most current GMO foods from being labeled at all. The FDA further commented that it “may be difficult” for any GMO food to qualify for labeling under the bill. And even for any GE foods that might be covered, the bill allows for food to be “labeled” through a digital system of QR codes that can only be accessed if the consumer has a smart phone and reliable internet connectivity.
Obama’s action is deplorable. But how did this train wreck of a bill even reach the president’s desk in the first place? The answer is a sad commentary on the corruption seen far too often in our federal legislature. The DARK Act was not subject to any hearings. No expert testimony was taken. Rather, it was the result of backroom dealing between a few senators and industrial food and biotech companies. The DARK Act was actually defeated in March in the Senate as the food movement in America poured in millions of outraged comments to their senators.

GMO Facts

What is a GMO?
A GMO, or genetically modified organism, is a plant, animal, microorganism or other organism whose genetic makeup has been modified using recombinant DNA methods (also called gene splicing), gene modification or transgenic technology. This relatively new science creates unstable combinations of plant, animal, bacterial and viral genes that do not occur in nature or through traditional crossbreeding methods. Visit the What is GMO page for more information and a list of high-risk crops.
Are GMOs safe?
Most developed nations do not consider GMOs to be safe and have significant restrictions or outright bans on the production and sale of GMOs. The U.S. and Canadian governments, though, have approved GMOs based on studies conducted by the same corporations that created them and profit from their sale.
Are GMOs labelled?
Sixty-four countries around the world, including Australia, Japan, and all of the countries in the European Union, require genetically modified foods to be labelled. While a 2015 ABC News survey found that 93% of Americans believe genetically modified foods should be labelled, GMOs are not required to be labelled in the U.S. and Canada. In the absence of mandatory labeling, the Non-GMO Project was created to give consumers the informed choice they deserve.
