Trump Taxes | Media hypocrisy and what Hillary Clinton didn’t tell you

Views Ahead Of The First Presidential Debate At Hofstra University

Media hypocrisy ‘laid bare’ over Trump taxes

By Bob Unruh | 3 October 2016

Did you hear about the presidential candidate who used a provision of the U.S. tax code that allows for a reduction of tax liabilities due to a net loss?

It was Hillary Clinton, whose 2015 tax forms show a “net long-term capital (loss)” of $699,540.

Oh, yes, Donald Trump did it, too, though on a much larger scale because of the size of his business.

So, both candidates did more or less the same thing. But what were the weekend headlines after the New York Times obtained and published Trump’s documents?

“Donald Trump and his allies struggle to move past tax revelation,” from the Times.

“Why Donald Trump’s new tax revelations are so damaging,” from MSNBC.

“Donald Trump can’t shut down New York Times tax-leak showing he lost nearly $1 billion in 1995,” from the Daily Beast.

“Tax troubles threaten Trump as election day nears,” from the Los Angeles Times.

What Clinton didn’t tell you about Trump’s taxes

By Devvy Kidd | 3 October 2016

During the Sept. 26, 2016, debate, Hillary Clinton blasted Donald Trump for not paying income taxes! He doesn’t support our troops! Not to be outdone, The Donald immediately fired back, saying not paying taxes makes him smart. Oh, the firestorm that followed. Trump doesn’t pay his “fair share”! OK, let’s examine the federal “income” tax.

Laws for the IRS, aka the Gestapo, are written by lawyers for Congress critters. Many in Congress are lawyers, so they should understand what they vote on regarding regulations for any agency. Mrs. Clinton was a lawyer, so she, too, should be aware of what is covered in the IRC (Income Tax Code).

It should be noted the New York Times illegally obtained three pages of Trump’s 1995 personal tax returns – page one from a New York state resident income tax return, page one from a New Jersey nonresident tax return and page one from a Connecticut nonresident tax return. The big revelation by the Times involving 20-year-old documents isn’t quite as earth-shattering as the paper would like you to believe. Lawfully taken deductions can be complicated under the tax code.

Tax Day Is America’s Anti-Holiday and the Tax Code Is Anti-American — International Liberty

It’s that time of year. Those of us who wait until the last minute are rushing to get tax returns filed (or extensions submitted). So it’s also a good time to remind ourselves that there is a better way. Economists look at the tax system and focus on the warts that undermine growth. High marginal […]

Health law fines double for many uninsured at tax time

WASHINGTON — Many people who went without health insurance last year are now seeing fines more than double under President Barack Obama’s health care law, tax preparation company H&R Block said Tuesday.

Among its customers who owe a penalty for the 2015 tax year, the average fine is $383, compared with $172 for 2014, the company said.

Separately, among those who complied with the law and took advantage of its taxpayer-subsidized private health insurance, 6 in 10 are now having to pay back to the IRS some portion of their financial assistance. Those payments also are trending higher this year, averaging $579, compared with $530 last tax season.

Bernie’s Proposed Tax Increases Are So High, They Virtually Broke Analysts’ Calculators

From The Federalists Papers
By

Bernie-Sanders-Meme-4

Bernie Sanders tax increases are so huge, it practically broke the analysts’ calculators.

At more than $15 trillion, the Sanders tax increases are so massive, they actually challenged forecasters’ ability to calculate them.

One of the taboos in politics is taxes. Every policy, every program a candidate proposes has to be paid for and ultimately the American people pay for it.

Everything old is new again in the era of expanding government regulations, so why limit yourself to only trying new things? Let’s dredge up some golden oldies and take them out for a fresh spin. This seems to be part of the thinking of Reihan Salam, writing at Salon this week. As far as a new war on alcohol is concerned, Salam isn’t calling for a renewal of prohibition… we tried that before. But he will settle for just taxing it out of this world.

The District of Columbia’s legislative body voted today to give its health exchange the power to tax any health-related insurance product sold in the city.

The D.C. Council, in a unanimous vote, approved the emergency tax measure to help the D.C. Health Benefit Exchange Authority run the online insurance exchange set up under the national health law known as Obamacare, The Washington Post reported.
