How The Transgender Pronoun Mandate Makes Teaching More Dangerous

From The Federalist
By M.G. Oprea | May 19, 2016

For a teacher, every day is a day you could lose your job because you said the wrong thing accidentally. The new federal transgender ‘guidelines’ make that worse.

Among the Obama’s administration’s guidelines released last week for how to treat transgender students, teachers and staff are instructed to refer to each boy or girl as “he” or “she” depending on the child’s gender identity, not his or her biology. Not to be outdone, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio is taking it one step further, pledging to fine businesses that don’t use a person’s preferred pronoun.

This effort to control the way we use language is central to the task of shifting how we think about transgenderism and forcing the acceptance of what some think is a mental disorder, not a true reality. But it also throws new obstacles into the path of teachers, who already have to navigate around accusations of political incorrectness and micro-aggressions.

According to the administration’s guidelines, schools aren’t allowed to require students to undergo a medical diagnosis, receive medical treatment, or produce a birth certificate before acquiescing to a student’s request (or the parents’ request on the child’s behalf) that they be referred to by a given pronoun (he or she, for example).

What A Social Mess

So, what would be required? It’s not clear if students would have to go through some bureaucratic process to request the change, or whether that would be considered a violation of their civil rights. Perhaps students simply have to tell their teacher what pronoun to use, but again this seems like it could be “triggering” for the student. Or maybe the teacher is just supposed to figure it out. But this too is fraught with problems. How does a teacher determine how a 5-, 10-, or 15-year-old gender-identifies?

Nat’l Education Association to White Teachers: You’re ALL Racist

From Louder with Crowder
By Kacie Burnett | Friday May 13 2016
Leftists love to imply that if groups like BlackLivesMatter make you uncomfortable, it’s because you’re racist. It doesn’t matter that BLM has an embarrassingly violent history of racism itself (see BlackLivesMatter Blasts Library… For Not Segregating Safe Spaces?!). Think less MLK Jr and more Malcolm X. If Malcolm X allowed a white man to impersonate a black leader (ahem Shaun King). You needn’t pay mind to “white people” being singled out and targeted. Otherwise, well…

How a 10-Year-Old Responded to NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio’s Attempt to Shut Down Her Charter School

From The Blaze

“Alise vs. the Mayor: The King’s Gambit” is the second episode in a mini-series exposing New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio’s attempts to curb charter schools in his city, though they are some of the best-performing schools in the state and offer a lifeline out of the woefully inadequate public schools for many of the poor.

Directed and produced by TheBlaze’s Will Cain, the series follows 10-year-old Alise Alexander as she finds out the school she loves is being shut down by Mayor de Blasio.

“I think that Mayor de Blasio feels that, as charter schools, we’re denying certain kids opportunities,” Alexander explained. “But that’s actually the opposite of what our school is doing.”

At Success Academy in Harlem, 97% of the students are black or Latino and 77% receive free or reduced-price lunch. Yet despite any disadvantages they may have, the charter school’s fifth graders scored first in the state in math in 2013, beating “the rich kids on the Upper East Side” and “the rich white kids in Westchester,” Cain said.

Sexual Discrimination Bill Would Protect Pedophiles From Being Banned As Preschool Teachers

The Daley Gator

California Congresswoman, Rep. Jackie Speier CA (D), wants to federalize a state law to prohibit counseling to change a person’s sexual orientation.

Under the bill’s language, a mental health counselor could be sanctioned if there was an attempt to get a gay individual to change his or her behavior or speak negatively about their behavior as it relates to sexuality.

The bill calls on states to prohibit efforts to change a minor’s sexual orientation, even if the minor requests it, saying that doing so is “dangerous and harmful.”

The text of the legislation doesn’t specifically ban “gay” conversion therapy. Instead, it prohibits attempts to change a person’s sexual orientation.

“Sexual orientation change efforts’ means any practices by mental health providers that seek to change an individual’s sexual orientation,” the bill says.

In regards to California state law SB 1172, which was initiated to ban conversion therapy in California, there were…
